We take an industry-lead approach, reaching deep into untapped talent pools and communities who may not have previously considered a career in investment management. In the last 12 months from September 2021 to August 2022, the Investment20/20 team has delivered over 280 outreach events and initiatives with young people at school, college and university.
Supporting our student engagement, we share the hidden stories of the young people who started their career through the Trainee Programme. They join us at student events but also through film, and in the summer we launched our new video “It can be you”, sharing inspiring stories from our alumni. The film highlights the broad range of socio-economic and educational backgrounds that the Investment20/20 trainees have come from, as they build their career in a sector that they never thought would be open to them.
There’s mounting evidence that the cost of living has become the leading concern among young people, making it even harder for some to overcome barriers getting into and progressing in work. Continuing to support members with programme implementation that facilitates the entry and career progression of underrepresented communities, remains a priority. These programmes include supporting young people with autism to explore careers in the sector with the Investment20/20 Trainee Programme as the entry point creating a seamless journey for both the young person and the firm.
