Engagement with students

Demand for careers support in schools, colleges and universities continue to be high. The team has delivered over 150 engagements with students since the start of the year. We have now moved to a hybrid model of delivery with a mix of virtual and in-person insight events welcoming industry speakers back into the classroom and onto campus.

Investment Ambassadors join our careers outreach sessions bringing the industry and many different roles to life.

Think Investments, our award-winning insight programme that is now delivered in the classroom and offers students a choice between technology and ESG pathways, is being well received.

Edinburgh College is one of many education providers signed up to the programme. Between February and April, we delivered six masterclasses on key industry topics along with career insight sessions to support students at the college to understand the purpose of investment management and the career opportunities. The programme was supported by Aegon Asset Management, First Sentier Investors, Liontrust, M&G, Walter Scott & Partners and abrdn. The programme was well received by students and teachers alike, with Beverley Christy, lecturer at Edinburgh College commenting:

“Our students benefitted from a fantastic series of presentations provided by Investment20/20. Representatives from a number of Financial Services providers delivered engaging and topical presentations, covering a range of topics. Presenters also were instrumental in breaking down misconceptions about who can be employed in this sector and the variety of entry points into the sector. Links are provided to invaluable traineeships - our students will be applying and the whole process was made much more accessible and inclusive as a result of our links with Investment20/20. Young Careers Champion - Greater London Authority initiative: We have become a ‘Young Careers Champion’ helping to inspire young adults to consider new career opportunities and fulfil their potential. Its ethos mirrors that of Investment20/20 – to recruit for potential and to give young people an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and talent.
