We are supporting members to build EDI into their early careers trainee and apprenticeship programmes supporting inclusive recruitment. No matter how well-intentioned student engagement is, without guiding students towards available and accessible industry opportunities, our ability to make lasting and significant student outreach will be restricted.
Entering the glass doors of corporate buildings for the first time can be daunting for many trainees and providing those crucial insights into work, builds confidence and breaks down barriers. By the end of summer, our members will have supported over 600 students through 20 workplace visits in investment management during this academic year.
As many of our trainees come to the end of the current programme, we are working with them to develop crucial career management skills and it is always encouraging to hear from them about the value they have gained from the professional development opportunities offered through the year.
Knowing where to focus resources on initiatives that drive the intended change and impact you want, means taking advantage of data. Gathering richer data to gain a deeper understanding of the backgrounds of those working within our industry, will help us drive forward meaningful change in EDI. The Investment Association, in partnership with the Think Ahead Institute, is undertaking this valuable research and analysis through their EDI Survey and members are encouraged to participate.
