Welcoming new trainees
Over the course of 2022, we have welcomed over 340 new trainees and apprentices to our industry, the highest number in one year. Our new recruits come from a wide range of diverse backgrounds and areas of study. All have had to navigate the challenges of education under COVID, a turbulent economy and an unsettled recruitment landscape, so resilience is a quality that they bring in spades. As an industry we need to nurture this talent and support their next stage of core skills development.
While members train their trainees and apprentices to perform in their new roles, the Investment20/20 Trainee Programme offers a breadth of overarching industry knowledge and equips them with essential technical and soft skills that give them the best possible start to their careers, all underpinned with a solid professional network.
Soft skills development
Trainees are invited to sessions that build their soft skills including our Campus to Corporate training as they start their new roles, preparing them for the transition from education to the world of work. They have opportunities to develop their presentation skills through fun and practical training from an experienced actor and put this into practice in the safe space of student outreach.
Technical skills development
Classroom based technical training sessions introduce financial markets, economics and investments for those from non-financial areas of study, and our series of regulatory sessions cover growth areas of blockchain, crypto currency and ESG.
Industry awareness
The membership of Investment20/20 is a wide-ranging collective of investment and wealth managers, fintech and service providers to the sector. Our Industry Insight events give trainees and apprentices a unique opportunity to hear different perspectives on current industry themes from senior speakers and build a professional peer network from across the spectrum of our member firms.
