The Investment Association in partnership with #TalkAboutBlack, part of the Diversity Project, launched the Black Leaders Programme – a mentoring and reverse mentoring programme for senior Black investment management professionals.
The goal of the programme is to support senior Black leadership into c-suite industry roles. This cross-industry initiative uses the convening power of the IA to bring together industry leaders, with volunteer mentors from the IA’s Board, and Black senior professionals with the purpose of establishing trusted mentoring relationships that drives career advancement.
We are delighted with the quality of applications for the 14 mentee positions and the volume of applications shows the importance and appetite for this initiative.
The programme formally kicked-off in January. Building on the success of the 2021 pilot programme, the mentees have received their first facilitated session with practical guidance in how to achieve the most out of their mentor-mentee relationship to achieve their long-term career goals and industry exposure.
Over the next 12 months, mentees and mentors will meet regularly to connect, discuss and exchange ideas that advance career progression and support the development of a more inclusive industry.
